Author Instructions for the 1st Intercontinental Landfill Research Symposium
These instructions have been modified from the Waste Management and Research author guidelines at
http://www.munksgaarddirect.dk/usr/munksgaard/tidsskrifter.nsf/Alfabetisk?OpenView
Instructions to Authors:
Send a MS Word file containing the manuscript to:
Tippen@sb.luth.se
If you do not use word, make a postcript file and send that instead.
Manuscripts should be in English. Translations should be carefully checked
for conformity with current English
or American idiom. Prepare the printer ready version of the manuscript,
with illustrations in their proper place.
Papers should be about 7 pages (+ title page and other auxilary pages)
and present an overview of the presentation that
will be held orally or by a poster at the symposium. The papers will be
published in conference proceedings
and on the conference home page. Make sure that the files are readable
when printed in black and white on standard A4-papers.
Leave 25 mm margins on all sides.
The first page should contain only the title of the paper and the names
and addresses of the authors.
Each manuscript should be introduced with an Abstract 100-150 words long,
which summarises the major
findings.
Authors should list, immediately below the abstract, approximately 5-10
key words that identify the main
topics of their paper.
The paper should be divided into numbered sections, e.g. "4. Total solids
in leachates". Each of these main
sections can be further subdivided into two levels, e.g. "4.1 Organic contents
of leachates" and "4.1.1. Volatile
organic acids".
All figures should be numbered with consecutive Arabic numbers, have descriptive
captions, and be mentioned in the text.
All tables should be numbered with consecutive Arabic numbers, have descriptive
captions and be mentioned
in the text. Avoid the use of vertical rules in tables.
A list of captions should be typed on a separate sheet and included with
the manuscript.
The paper should include a Conclusion emphasising the major results and
indicating the future relevance for
waste research. New material should not be introduced in the Conclusion.
Metric units (SI units) must be used with standard abbreviations. English
and American units may be given in
parentheses.
The use of abbreviations for legal bodies, laws, institutes, professional
concepts, chemicals, etc. is only
accepted if the full name is given, when mentioned the first time.
References - should be listed in alphabetical order at the end of each
paper. Citation in the text should be by
author's surname and year of publication (author-date system), e.g. "...
using the data obtained by Smith
(1979)" or "... using data from literature (Smith 1979)". Otherwise, similar
citations should be differentiated by
a letter, e.g. "Smith (1979a)", "Smith (1979b)", etc. If a cited paper
has more than two authors, et al. should
be used for citation e.g. "Jones et al. (1981)".
The main search path for a reference should be written in italic, se examples
below.
Journal names should be given in full and should not be translated. Titles
of papers should be given in their
original language if possible, followed by a translation in parentheses:

in the language of the submitted
manuscript should also be given in parentheses.
